Wrench & Byte is my one-man app studio. I build simple, sturdy apps for iPhone and Android — tools for hunting camp, the garage, and everywhere else the real work happens. If you'd rather be out doing the thing than fiddling with an app, we'll get along fine.

How I build

The same standards as good tools.

The name isn't just a name. I grew up around people who fix their own stuff, and I try to build software the way they'd want their tools made: solid, no-nonsense, and still working years from now.

Built to last

I'd rather ship one feature that works every time than five that mostly work. An app should behave the same way this season as it did last season.

Your data is yours

I collect as little as I can get away with, I don't sell any of it, and most of it never leaves your phone. That's the whole policy, really.

No fuss

If a screen needs a tutorial, I redo the screen. You've got gloves on half the time anyway — big buttons, clear words, done.

A hunting log for your whole camp. Track hunts, log harvests, share photos, and keep the group in the loop from opener to last light. Started as a tool for my own hunting party — it grew from there.

About

Hi, I'm Josh.

Wrench & Byte is my studio — and by studio I mean it's me, in Minnesota, doing the design, the code, the testing, and the support email. I formed the LLC because I'm serious about this, but there's no team behind the curtain. If you email about a bug, the person who wrote the bug is the one reading it.

The mission is simple: make software tools for people who work with their hands. Hunters in the field, DIYers under the hood — people whose real work happens away from a desk. Most apps aren't built for them. Mine are.

Being a one-man shop means nothing ships until I'd use it myself, and nothing gets abandoned after launch. Small on purpose.

Wrench & Byte LLC ("we") builds mobile apps for iOS and Android. We designed our apps to work with as little of your personal information as possible.

Information we collect. Our apps are built to keep your data on your device wherever possible. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising. If an app feature requires collecting information to function, that collection is described within the app before you use the feature.

Analytics and diagnostics. We may use privacy-respecting, aggregated diagnostic information to understand crashes and improve reliability. This information is not used to identify you personally.

Your choices. You can contact us at any time to ask what information an app holds, or to request that we delete information associated with you, by emailing hello@wrenchandbyte.com.
